Incident at 20NM W HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ)
2021-01-19: A Sunwest Aviation Learjet 35A (C-GTJL/CNK633) from Thunder Bay, ON (CYQT) to Halifax/Stanfield, NS (CYHZ) declared an emergency on approach to Runway 23. The aircraft advised of one engine shutdown. The National Operations Centre (NOC) and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Halifax were advised. The aircraft landed safely at 1208Z. No impact on operations.
2021-02-15: UPDATE: TSB Report #A21A0002: C-GTJL, a Learjet 35A aircraft operated by Sunwest Aviation Ltd., was conducting flight CNK633 from Thunder Bay, ON (CYQT) to Halifax/Stanfield, NS (CYHZ). At an altitude of about 10 000 feet and 20NM West of CYHZ, the flight crew noted a master warning and number 1 engine (Garrett, TFE731-2-2B) power loss, accompanied by low number 1 engine oil pressure, as well as the illumination of left fuel pressure and left generator indications. The flight crew declared an emergency and carried out checklist actions for engine failure in flight and single-engine landing. The flight continued the approach to CYHZ, where the flight landed without further incident. The operator will coordinate with the engine manufacturer to determine the cause of the engine power loss.
