Incident at SIOUX LOOKOUT ON (CYXL) (Aerodrome, runway or taxiway shutdown)
2020-03-24: A North Star Air Pilatus PC-12/47 (C-GXTB/BF704) on a flight from Thunder Bay, ON (CYQT) to Sioux Lookout, ON (CYXL) declared an emergency due to a gear indication issue. Emergency services dispatched. The aircraft landed without incident at 1719Z. Runway was closed for 15 minutes. No impact to operations.
2020-04-07: UPDATE TSB Report #A20C0028: C-GXTB, a Pilatus PC-12/47 aircraft operated by North Star Air Ltd., was conducting flight BF704 from Thunder Bay (CYQT), ON to Sioux Lookout (CYXL), ON. On final approach to CYXL, the flight crew selected the landing gear down but did not receive a down and locked indication. The flight crew performed two flybys and the landing gear was observed to be extended. The flight crew declared an emergency and conducted the "Main Landing Gear Unlocked" checklist as per the QRH Emergency checklist. The subsequent landing was conducted safely and the flight crew shut down the engine on the runway. The passengers deplaned and the aircraft was towed to the apron. The operators maintenance personnel replaced the left main-landing-gear down-lock switch and conducted successful landing gear retraction tests.
