Incident at 30NM E TOPPS INTERSECTION (Communication navigation surveillance/air traffic system)


2015-08-11: An American corporately registered Gulfstream G IV (N400FJ) from London/ Luton, UK (EGGW) to Bangor, ME (KBGR) was westbound enroute landing KBGR. The aircraft was descending to FL290 from FL400. An Air Canada Boeing 767-375 (C-FXCA/ ACA810) from Toronto, ON (CYYZ) to Istanbul, Turkey (LTBA) was an eastbound aircraft at FL330. ACA810 requested a 10 degree right turn due weather. The controller issue a right turn at the discretion of the pilot. During a sector briefing the relieving controller identified a possible conflict between the two aircraft and immediately stopped the briefing and the controller still in position issued a heading to ACA810 to ensure separation.
