Accident at 461098N 0605696W - 38NM W SYDNEY, NS


2015-07-28: JRCC SARSUM Halifax Report#[H2015-00997]: (461098N 0605696W - 38 NM West of Sydney, NS). Sydney Civil Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA) advises that there was an ultra-light crash near Middle River, NS involving a Logimire Inc. Propulsion Parachute Star Flex 3503 (C-IHZM). A check with Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) confirmed that there was a crash with one injured and one fatality. The injured was medevac-ed via Lifeflight.
2015-08-11: UPDATE: TSB Report#A15A0043: The Star Flex 3503 Propulsion Parachute (registration C-IHZM) basic ultra-light was attempting to take off on a mowed grass field with a pilot and a passenger on board. The parachute deployed but the aircraft did not become airborne. It struck a rural roadside mailbox then crashed into a barn before coming to rest. The pilot was fatally injured and the passenger was seriously injured. The aircraft was substantially damaged.
