Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ)

Summary

2015-07-22: On departure Runway 14, a Jazz de Havilland DHC-8-102 (C-GANS/ JZA8802) to Halifax, NS (CYHZ) to Sydney, NS (CYQY) declared an emergency due to one engine out and requested to return to CYHZ. The aircraft landed safely at 1528Z. Minor delays to two other arrivals.
2015-07-23: UPDATE: TSB Report#A15A0039: The Jazz flight 8802, a Dash 8-100 (registration C-GANS) aeroplane, was departing Halifax (CYHZ) for Sydney (CYQY). Just after takeoff, the # 1 engine torque was surging and fluctuating which caused the crew to perform a precautionary shutdown of the engine. They declared an emergency and returned for a safe landing. Maintenance found that a pin had pushed back on connector 9811-J39 for the auto-feather system. The pin was reset, ground runs were carried out and the aircraft was returned to service.
