Incident at Approximately 46N

Summary

2015-07-13: At 0119Z, a British Airways Boeing 747 400 (GCIVD/ BAW45B) from Boston, MA (KBOS) to London, UK (EGLL) advised that they were unable to maintain M.80 and were increasing to M.82 due to turbulence and aircraft performance. Air Traffic Control (ATC) was unable to approve due to slower traffic ahead who was also in turbulence and could not speed up. There was no actual loss of separation. Separation was projected to be lost around 35W due to a much fast aircraft behind. After progressing 40W, ATC was able to provide 5 minutes long separation to landfall and then approved the aircraft to increase in speed.
