Incident at In the vicinity of: CUDDY INTERSECTION
2015-06-24: Just west of CUDDY, a United Airlines Boeing 767 300 (N663UA/ UAL958) from Chicago, IL (KORD) to London, UK (EGLL) reported an abnormal indication in the right elevator which could be felt in the rudder. The flight requested a diversion to Goose Bay, NL (CYYR). There was no traffic and the flight was cleared to CYYR. The flight landed safely at 0222Z.
2015-06-25: UPDATE: Aviation Incident Report#13936: Goose Bay, NL (CYYR) reported that United Airlines Boeing 767-300 (N663UA/UAL958) had a problem with their right elevator. The Aircraft was secured at 0225Z. Passengers and crew were accommodated overnight.
2015-07-06: UPDATE: TSB Report#A15A0035: The United Airline B767-300 (registration N663UA) aeroplane departed Chicago-O'Hare (KORD) for destination London-Heathrow (EGLL) and was passing the CUTTY fix when the crew noted a right elevator indication problem on the EICAS. A vibration was felt in the aft cabin as well the aft flap control circuit breaker had tripped. The captain declared an emergency and diverted, landing at Goose Bay (CYYR) safely. Maintenance determined that the elevator transmitter rod end had play and that loose fasteners were found on a wing to body fairing panel. These were secured and the circuit breaker reset. The aircraft was flown to the US for further inspection and any required repair before release to service.
