Incident at GREATER MONCTON ROMEO LEBLANC INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Summary

2015-04-28: A CANLink Aviation Diamond DA 20-C1 (C-FFQT) on a local flight from Moncton, NB (CYQM) squawked 7600 during a local training flight at 1320Z. The aircraft left the training area and appeared to be inbound for landing on Runway 29, which was the runway the aircraft had earlier departed from. The tower controller was able to establish that C-FFQT was receiver only (RONLY) by the aircraft's response to an instruction for a secondary surveillance radar (SSR) code change. C-FFQT was cleared to land Runway 29, landed at 1330Z, and taxied to the flight college. No operational impact as C-FFQT was the only aircraft airborne in the control zone.
