Incident at ST. JOHN'S INTL NL (CYYT) (FOD (foreign object debris), Aerodrome, runway or taxiway shutdown)


2015-02-18: At approximately 1100Z, the driver of ground vehicle T96 was working on Runway 11/29, and reported an in-pavement light sticking out of the ground near the threshold of Runway 29. A Cargojet Airways Boeing 757-28A (C-GIAJ / CJT620) from Halifax, NS (CYHZ) to St. John's, NL (CYYT) was approximately 20 miles final for Runway 11. The duty manager was advised about the light and they closed the runway which was the active. CJT620 entered a hold and a WestJet Boeing 737-7CT (C-FMWJ / WJA435) from St. John's, NL (CYYT) to Halifax, NS (CYHZ) was delayed for departure. Both aircraft proceeded to arrive/depart Runway 34 at 1157Z and 1116Z respectively.
