At approximately 120 miles east of CYQY the QX controller advised centre that POE247 was turning around and returning to CYHZ to have the flaps inspected as he suspected that he might have damage them earlier on departure out of CYHZ. 2015-02-05: UPDATE: TSB Report#A15A0004: The Porter Airlines DHC-8 aircraft (C-GLQM), operating as POE247, had departed Halifax (CYHZ) enroute to St. John's NL (CYYT). During the initial climb the crew encountered moderate turbulence prior to reaching the flap retraction altitude. The airspeed exceeded the Flap 5 limit. Once the aircraft was in cruise flight, the flight crew contacted the company and was subsequently advised to return to CYHZ so that company maintenance could inspect the aircraft. POE247 landed at CYHZ without further incident. Company maintenance carried out an inspection for a flap overspeed situation. No faults were noted and the aircraft was returned to service.
