Incident at ST. JOHN'S INTL NL (CYYT) (Aerodrome, runway or taxiway shutdown)


2015-01-23: A CHC Helicopters Canada Inc Sikorsky S-92A (C-FBXY/ RBD2A) from St John's, NL (CYYT) taxied on Runway 02 for departure Runway 29. He needed to burn fuel at the hold short line for 8 minutes. Once he was finished, he advised that his brakes had frozen and was unable to move. He required Tower to organize his ground crew for removal of passengers and to bring their maintenance crew out to the S-92A. The runway was previously NOTAMed closed but available for taxi. Once the S-92A advised of the condition of his brakes, a voice advisory was issued to keep Runway 02 closed and unavailable for taxi. RBD2A taxied back to their hangar at 1530Z.
