Incident at FREDERICTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
2015-01-23: A Canlink Aviation Diamond DA 20-C1 (C-FNGN) on a local flight from Fredericton, NB (CYFC) was observed on radar squawking 7600 and appeared to be heading inbound from the east. Shortly after the pilot called the Tower and indicated he had lost all his communications and his fuel gauge went to zero out of nowhere. No emergency declared. Tower told him to fly direct to the airport and straight in for Runway 27 and that there would be nobody in his way and to watch for the light signal on final. C-FNGN landed safely at 2110Z. Aircraft rescue and fire fighting (ARFF) was called out on stand by. No impact on operations.
2015-04-15: Update from Maintenance & Manufacturing: The lower pivot bolt for the alternator had sheared allowing the alternator belt tension to slack off and the aircraft to loose all electronics. The bolt and alternator bracket were replaced and runs carried out with no further issues. A Service Difficulty Report (SDR) was submitted and dialogue between the aircraft manufacturer and the company was carried out about the bolt issue.
