Accident at 50 NM SSE Bucaramanga, Colombia
2014-05-21: TSB Report#A14F0056: The Piper 31-109 (C-GSVM) was scheduled to perform an aerial geophysics exploration near Bucaramanga (BGA), Colombia, with the pilot and one system operator on board. Authorities received a call from Area Control Centre (ACC) in Bogota, Columbia (BOG) reporting an emergency locator transmitter (ELT) activation. The aircraft had collided with a mountain about 50 nautical miles SSE of Bucaramanga. The Grupo de Investigación de Accidentes & Incidentes Aéreos (GRIAA) of the Colombia Civil Aviation Authority is investigating the accident.
2014-10-24: Update: Follow-up information received from Flight Operations ? West [2014/10/17]: A Civil Aviation Safety Inspector (CASI) looked into this occurrence. The CASI contacted the company and was provided with additional information by the operator and a corrective action plan (CAP) which was accepted by the CASI. The CASI advised that no further Transport Canada action was required at this time.
