Incident at 92 NM S of FORT SMITH AIRPORT (CYSM)

Summary

2013-01-29: A Northwestern Air Lease British Aerospace Jetstream 31 (operating as PLR598) on a IFR flight reported a generator failure and returned to CYSM. Aircraft landed safely at 1805Z. No impact to operations.
2013-02-01: UPDATE Maintenance & Manufacturing: L/H starter/generator failed approximately 20 minutes after departure from Fort Smith enroute to Edmonton. Unit was removed and inspected. Preliminary investigation seems to indicate a rear bearing failure, but the unit will be sent to a repair facility for confirmation and overhaul. This unit has a 1000 Hr. service life between overhauls and was at 828.5 Hrs. TIS at removal.
