Accident at THREE HILLS AB (CEN3)
2018-09-10: UPDATE TSB A13W0011: A privately operated Piper Meridian PA46-500TP, was on a VFR flight from La Crete, AB (CFN5) to Three Hills, AB (CEN3). On short final to Runway 29 the pilot lost visual reference to the runway due to blowing snow. The aircraft touched down approximately 100 feet short of the runway on an inclining slope. GMHP struck a snow bank with the left wing causing it to bend back along the fuselage. The aircraft came to rest near the left side of the threshold of the runway. The pilot and one passenger were not injured; however, a second passenger did sustain serious injuries. A considerable amount of fuel was spilled but there was no post impact fire.
2018-09-10: A privately registered Piper PA46 on a IFR flight lost visual on final approach, hit a snow drift causing substantial damage to the wing of the aircraft. No impact to operation.
2018-09-10: UPDATE JRCC: 291604Z. 406 ELT A78DF0194780261 (514168N 1131226W - Three Hills). COSPAS-SARSAT detected a 406 ELT from an aircraft registered in Alberta. Investigation revealed the aircraft crashed at the Three Hills airport. Fire, ambulance and RCMP responded. The 3 POB received minor injuries. No assistance was required from JRCC Trenton. Case closed.
