Incident at RANKIN INLET NU (CYRT)
2013-01-29: UPDATE TSB A13C0009: First Air 301, A Boeing 737-200 registration C-FNVK departed Rankin Inlet, NU en route to Winnipeg, MB. On departure, the #1 Engine Overheat indication illuminated intermittently. Checklist procedures were carried out and an emergency was declared. Upon reducing power, the overheat indication extinguished, so an in flight shutdown (Pratt & Whitney JT8D) was not required. The flight was diverted back to Rankin Inlet and landed without further incident. Maintenance is investigating a leak in the aircraft's pneumatic ducting.
2013-01-29: At 2057Z, a First Air Boeing 737 (C-FNVK/ operating as FAB301) on a IFR flight declared an emergency due to an engine overheat indication and returning to CYRT. Emergency standby services were notified. At 2114Z, the aircraft landed without incident. No impact on airport operations or other aircraft.
