Incident at FREDERICTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
2015-10-21: UPDATE Aviation Incident Report from Fredericton airport: Notified by ATC that a Diamond Eclipse (C-GHTO) on a local flight from Fredericton, NB (CYFC) was returning with an unknown issue at 1608Z. Red 8 and Red 9 responded to taxiway Alpha to stand by. At 1610Z the Diamond Eclipse landed without incident. Red 8 and Red 9 proceeded to follow that plane back to MFC where there was no further incident. Red 8 & 9 returned to the firehall.
2015-10-21: A Canlink Aviation Diamond DA 20-C1 (C-GHTO) on a local flight from Fredericton, NB (CYFC) departed runway 27 and advised they had to return to land due to a rough running engine. The aircraft landed safely on runway 27 with ARFF standing by. No operational impact.
2015-10-21: Update Maintenance & Manufacturing: Pilot reported intermittent rough engine. Maintenance did compressions found number 1 cylinder to be low. Intake valve face lapped and compressions checked after runs to be over 60. All spark plugs were replaced as a precaution. Left magneto was replaced as a precaution. Magneto timing was checked with no faults found. Fuel was checked for contamination with none found. Oil filter was checked for contamination with none found. Engine runs and a test flight were carried out with no further issues.
