Incident at GREATER MONCTON ROMEO LEBLANC INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
2015-10-21: Update Maintenance & Manufacturing: The snag was reported to maintenance as a prop overspeed/faulty tachometer. Pilot had reported that the tach swung up into the 3000 rpm range with no change in engine sounds. Maintenance removed and inspected the tach cable ends as well as the drive attachment to the gauge. No issues were found. Engine runs were carried out and a tach calibration completed with no faults found. On the 19th the aircraft was snagged again for the prop tach reading 3300 to 3400 and then back to normal with no sound change in engine. Maintenance replaced the tach indicator with a new gauge, did the tach calibration and had a test flight done to check for issues with nothing further found.
