Incident at GREATER MONCTON ROMEO LEBLANC INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
2015-10-21: A Canlink Aviation Diamond DA 20-C1 (C-FNTJ) on a local flight from Moncton, NB (CYQM) was conducting circuits on runway 24. The pilot was cleared touch-and-go. When the aircraft was on the runway the pilot reported that he would need to stop and exit the runway. The pilot stated that the engine oil cap was open. C-FNTJ taxied off the runway and returned to the flight college.
2015-10-21: Update Maintenance & Manufacturing: Report was that the engine oil cap had opened. It was actually the engine cowling oil access door that had come open. The pilot taxied back to the college to secure the access door and then decided to terminate his flight. It was not reported to maintenance as this door is accessed to plug in the aircraft engine pre-heater as well as to access the oil dipstick. It is secured by a ?camlock? type fastener which is nearly impossible to accidentally unlatch.
