Incident at FREDERICTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Summary

2015-10-21: At 1626Z, Moncton ACC advised that a United States Air Force PZL M-28 (RCH1028) from Fredericton, NB (CYFC) to Goose Bay, NL (CYYR) was declaring an emergency (smoke in the cockpit) and returning to CYFC to land. At 1640Z, Moncton (CZQM) advised the aircraft had pulled power to the smoke source and was no longer in a state of emergency. ARFF remained on standby. The aircraft landed safely at 1654Z and emergency vehicles followed the aircraft to the main apron. No impact on operations.
2015-10-21: Aviation Incident Report for Fredericton Airport: Tower advised that a M-28 call sign Reach 1028 reported smoke in the cockpit and was to return to Fredericton airport. The aircraft was 20 miles out. Red9 and Red8 responded to stand by positions. Red9 went to the ADF site and Red8 went to the vehicle holding bay. Tower advised 4 hours of fuel on board. Aircraft landed without incident, Red8 and Red9 followed aircraft to apron and checked with crew to ensure that aircraft was safe. Red9 and Red8 returned to firehall at 1410 local. No further incident.
