Incident at 56N 040W


2014-12-12: A United Airlines Boeing 757 224 (N34137/ UAL27) from Newark, NJ (KEWR) to Birmingham (EGBB) was cleared on NAT "X" at FL370 when while approaching 40W, it declared a medical emergency and requested to divert to Keflavik, Iceland. After a period of time, the aircraft subsequently decided to divert to Shannon, Ireland instead. The aircraft remained on cleared route and departed Gander airspace at 0310Z without further incident.
