Incident at ST. JOHN'S INTL NL (CYYT)


2014-11-26: A P.A.L Airlines Ltd. de Havilland DHC-8-315, on a flight from Goose Bay, NL (CYYR) to St. John's, NL (CYYT) cancelled IFR and requested an overshoot due to an abnormal gear indication. Did some checks and returned to land safely at 1341Z.
2015-12-15: UPDATE: TSB REPORT#A13A0068: The Provincial Airlines Dash 8-300 (registration C-FPAE) was on final approach to St Johns (CYYT) airport and selected gear down. The gear extension took approximately 5 minutes. The crew elected to overshoot the runway and returned making an uneventful landing. Maintenance was able to reproduce this discrepancy during function checks in the hangar. It was determined that a poor wire connection at the landing gear inhibit switch was the root cause. These connections were resecured and a test flight conducted with no recurrence. The aircraft was returned to service.
