Incident at 25 miles E ST. JOHN'S INTL NL (CYYT) (Dangerous goods/hazardous materials, Aerodrome, runway or taxiway shutdown)


2014-11-05: A Royal Air Force Lockheed C-120 (Hercules) (RRR5303) from CYHZ to EGVN via YYT 48N 050W reported an electrical issue with the aircraft. The flight was 25 miles east of CYYT and at 2017Z the pilot requested to divert to CYYT. The electrical issue was affecting navigation but it was not an emergency situation and no assistance required. RRR5303 was issued direct CYYT and the pilot advised the requirement to dump fuel. Fuel dump commenced at 2018Z and concluded at 2022Z. RRR5303 was cleared for a visual approach to runway 29 and landed at 2026Z without incident. Subsequent to the arrival, it was observed that RRR5303 leaked fuel onto the runway resulting in runway 11/29 being closed for approximately 45 minutes.
2014-11-05: AOR 159545-V2: A Royal Air Force Lockheed C-120 (Hercules) (RRR5303) from CYHZ to EGVN diverted to CYYT due to navigational issues. No emergency and no assistance required. At 8 miles final reported finishing dumping fuel. Aircraft was offered extra turn to finish dumping but declined. Landed runway 29 turned around on runway and then reported that residual fuel had vented/leaked during the turn. Runway 29 closed until 2140Z for inspection and clean up.
