Incident at QUÉBEC / JEAN LESAGE INTL QC (CYQB)

Summary

2012-02-27: The pilot of a privately owned Mooney 20 that was on an IFR flight from Québec/Jean-Lesage (CYQB) to Portsmouth (KPSM) did not follow the QUEBEC 3 standard instrument departure (SID) procedure that he had received and read back. The aircraft made a left turn at 1 800 ft, though the procedure stipulates a climb on the runway heading to 3 000 ft. The pilot also reported, while climbing to 4 000 ft, that he was turning to a point on the route called PESVI, which the controller did not have in the navigation system. No impact on ATC operations.
