Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ)
2011-02-18: UPDATE TSB: A11A0004: The Jazz Air LP de Havilland Dash 8-300, registration C-GVON, was operating as JZA788 on a flight from Montreal, QC to Saint John, NB. On approach to Saint John, the crew selected flaps to 15 degrees but observed a flap position of zero degrees and visually confirmed that no flap movement had occurred. After carrying out a missed approach and completing the emergency checklist items, the crew requested and received clearance to divert flight to Halifax, NS. The aircraft landed without further incident with ARFF standing by. Maintenance crews found the flap selector handle micro-switch sticking. The micro-switch was replaced, the flap actuator cleaned, flap selection and indication was tested serviceable and the aircraft was returned to service.
2011-02-07: JZA788, DHC 8 301, on approach at Saint John (CYSJ) was unable to activate the flaps. The flight crew elected to divert to Halifax (CYHZ). The flight requested emergency equipment to be on standby. The aircraft landed without incident at 16:56Z. There was no impact on operations. See also CADORS 2011A0091. TSB Case Closed.
