Incident at WINNIPEG / JAMES ARMSTRONG RICHARDSON INTL MB (CYWG)
Summary
2010-01-04: Pinnacle Airlines flight FLG 4079 departed Winnipeg for Minneapolis at 1418z and at 1421z the crew requested to return due to a flap problem. They then declared an emergency and the aircraft landed safely at 1434z. TSB report to follow.
2010-01-05: UPDATE TSB reported that Pinnacle Airlines/Northwest Airlink flight 4079, a Canadair CL-600-2B19 RJ, departed Winnipeg en route to Minneapolis. Shortly after takeoff, the crew received a flaps fail indication when flap retraction was selected. The crew declared an emergency and diverted the flight back to Winnipeg and landed uneventfully with flaps at 30 degrees. The aircraft had been cold soaked and the temperature at takeoff was -31 C. Maintenance reset the flaps in accordance with CRJ 27-51-10.
