Incident at 15 Miles Northwest of Frederiction (CYFC) (TCAS alert, Conflict - IFR & VFR)
Summary
2010-11-25: JZA530, RJ200, enroute from Toronto (CYYZ) to Fredericton (CYFC) was on a right downwind approach for Runway 27. The aircraft was given descent to 4,000 ft. because of northbound VFR traffic enroute to the training areas north of the airport. The VFR traffic was observed by JZA530 climbing through 3,500 ft. on the Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) so the flight crew requested descent. The aircraft was given descent to 2,300 ft. JZA530 started to descend but leveled at 3,000 ft. due to a second VFR aircraft that was detected on TCAS climbing below JZA530. JZA530 then commenced a climb to avoid this aircraft and climbed to 3,900 ft. before starting descent once again to 2,300 ft. The flight landed without further incident.
