Incident at 4415N/06800W

Summary

2010-11-22: VIR2, Airbus A340-600, enroute from Newark (KEWR) to London (EGLL), declared an emergency with the Boston Air Traffic Control reporting a possible engine failure. The aircraft requested continuation until the issue was discussed with the operator's maintenance personnel. The number-four engine was idled until 03:27Z and then restarted. The flight reported that the engine was operating normally. Faulty indicator lights were blamed for the problem. The flight requested clearance to 35,000 ft. at Mach .82 as a precautionary measure. Gander Air Traffic Control was advised and granted the clearance. No assistance was required.
