Summary

2010-10-29: At 02:10Z, DAL74, Boeing 767-300, enroute from Atlanta (KATL) to Milan (LIMC), was by 50N040W at 02:01Z at 34,000 ft., estimating 51N030W at 02:42Z when it requested clearance to descent to 32,000 ft. due to moderate to severe turbulence reported by aircraft between 30W and 25W. Gander was unable to clear the aircraft due traffic at 33,000 ft. and 32,000 ft. The aircraft declared an emergency, offset 10 miles south of course, and began descent to 32,000 ft. Gander advised the flight that there was no traffic at 31,000 ft. so the aircraft continued descent and reported reaching 31,000 ft. at 02:41Z.
