Incident at LOPRO Intersection (Communication navigation surveillance/air traffic system)

Summary

2010-10-01: SWR17P, Airbus A330-300, enroute from New York (KJFK) to Zurich (LSZH) had an estimate from Boston plus the hard copy flight plan that showed ALLEX - CYMON as the routing. However the aircraft was detected by the Gander controller, prior to hand-off, tracking to YQX. When asked about the discrepancy, the pilot claimed that he was re-cleared to YQX by the Boston controller. If that was the case, Boston did not update the routing change. The Moncton controller re-cleared the aircraft direct CYMON.
2010-10-04: UPDATE NAV CANADA AOR 124948-V2 - The Boston safety officer reported on October 1 that the audio tapes reveal that the Boston controller initiated the reroute and did not update the system.
