Incident at FREDERICTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (Overshoot/missed approach, Conflict - potential, Alleged Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) infraction)


2010-09-07: A Canadian registered Murphy Rebel, enroute from Fredericton (CYFC) to Summerside (CYSU), was given taxi instructions to hold short on ALPHA Taxiway then given further instruction after holding short to contact the tower. The aircraft was observed by the tower controller proceeding to Runway 27 and could not get a response on the frequency. C-FMCZ, Piper PA44 180, conducting local flying, had been cleared to land and on short final was instructed to overshoot due to the other aircraft. The ground controller made contact with the Murphy Rebel and instructed the aircraft to stop due to traffic on final. The aircraft stopped 20 ft. short of the runway. C-FIXZ was then switched to the tower and given take off instructions. C-FMCZ landed several minutes later.
