Incident at DEER LAKE NL (CYDF) (ATS operating irregularity)

Summary

2010-07-09: WJA518, Boeing 737 7CT, enroute from St. John?s (CYYT) to Deer Lake (CYDF), executed a missed approach due the approach it was cleared for (RNAV) was not authorized by a NOTAM. The Flight Service Station (FSS) informed Gander Centre that subsequently issued the NDB/DME approach. The flight crew informed the FSS that they did not have time to prepare for the changed approach. Nil TSB.
