Incident at Gander Oceanic
Summary
2010-06-14: At 17:52Z position 47/43, RJA270, Airbus A340-200, enroute from Montreal (CYUL) to Amman (OJAI), reported medium to severe turbulence at 37,000 ft. with an altitude deviation of 200-300 feet. The flight requested and was cleared to 35,000 ft. At 18:02Z, the aircraft reported level at 35,000 ft. and moderate to severe turbulence with a vertical deviation of 400-500 ft. The flight requested 33,000 ft. The aircraft was initially cleared to 34,000 ft and another flight at 33,000 ft. was asked for a ride report. That flight reported continual moderate turbulence at 33,000 ft. and 32,000 ft. was offered to the aircraft. The aircraft elected to remain at 34,000 ft. Nil TSB.
