2010-06-03: IBE6251, Airbus A340-600, enroute from Madrid (LEMD) to New York (KJFK), operating between 50/30 and 51/40 at 34,000 ft. at 15:18Z, advised that the flight was experiencing heavy turbulence and had to climb 300 feet without ATC clearance. The flight further advised that the turbulence lasted between 45 seconds and one minute and that the aircraft had returned to 34,000 ft. Nil TSB.
