Incident at GREATER MONCTON ROMEO LEBLANC INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Summary

2010-07-13: UPDATE TSB: A10A0074: JZA8990, an Air Canada Jazz Bombardier CRJ200, en route from Montreal to Moncton was turning final approach when the nose of the aircraft struck a large bird. One on-duty and one commuting flight attendant reported hearing the impact. The aircraft landed safely without further incident. An inspection revealed that upper rear section of the nose and the main structure which it is mounted to had significant damage. Maintenance personnel carried out a temporary repair to the damaged section,then the aircraft was ferried to the manufacturer's facility in Montreal for further repairs. 6 July 2010-The manufacturer's maintenance personnel carried out permanent repairs and the aircraft returned to service.
2010-05-31: JZA990, RJ200, enroute from Montreal (CYUL) to Moncton (CYQM), reported a bird strike at 1,000 ft. on approach to Runway 24. The aircraft landed routinely. TSB Case Closed.
