Incident at GANDER INTL NL (CYQX)

Summary

2010-05-25: OCST910, CH-149, departed from Gander at 18:27Z for a 30-minute flight test west of Gander Lake. At approximately 18:40Z, the aircraft broadcast MAYDAY and advised that it was landing on the south side of Gander Lake. OCST910 advised that they were on the ground and the situation appeared to be resolved. At approximately 18:43Z, OCST910 advised that they were airborne and inbound for the airport. OCST910 landed at the airport at 18:46Z without incident. Upon landing the crew advised that the aircraft had suddenly filled with fumes that quickly dissipated. They had suspected a fire, declared a MAYDAY and landed. Nil TSB
