Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ)

Summary

2010-05-14: DAL80, Boeing 767-300, enroute from New York (KJFK) to Amsterdam (EHAM), advised of an engine shut down and requested clearance to divert to Halifax (CYHZ). The flight declared an emergency shortly thereafter and landed without incident at 22:15Z. The aircraft exited the runway to a de-ice bay for a brake temperature check and cool down. The aircraft moved to the gate at 22:38Z. There was minimal impact on operations. TSB Case Closed.
2010-06-10: UPDATE TSB: A10A0049: A Delta Airlines Boeing 767-300 (N192DN), was en route from New York to Amsterdam when the flight crew advised ATC that they had intentionally shut down the number one engine (Pratt & Whitney PW 4060). The crew requested and received a clearance to divert the flight to Halifax and shortly after declared an emergency. The aircraft landed safely in an overweight condition without further incident with ARFF standing by. Maintenance inspection revealed that the engine oil chip detector had detached causing an oil leak. The aircraft was returned to service after repairs and an engine windmill inspection were completed.
