Incident at 40 miles Northeast of Halifax (CYHZ)

Summary

2010-05-06: C-FFRN, Cessna 172M, was on a VFR flight enroute from Charlottetown (CYYG) to Trenton (CYTN), and then to Halifax (CYHZ), returning to Charlottetown. The Halifax Flight Information Centre (FIC) contacted Halifax Tower advising that they had a pilot on guard frequency that appeared disoriented and lost. The pilot was transferred to the Moncton Area Control Centre (ACC) frequency and was vectored to Halifax. During vectors it appeared the aircraft?s compass gyro was not indicating the correct direction. The aircraft landed without incident at 22:01Z. Nil TSB.
