Incident at ST. JOHN'S INTL NL (CYYT)

Summary

2010-05-03: DLH409, Airbus A330-300, enroute from Newark (KEWR) to Dusseldorf (EDDL), declared a medical emergency and requested clearance to divert to St. John?s (CYYT). The aircraft executed contingency procedures and was re-cleared direct to St. John?s. The aircraft landed at 02:02Z without further incident. TSB Case Closed.
2010-06-10: UPDATE TSB: A10A0044: D-AIKD, a Lufthansa Airbus A-330-300, was en route from Newark to Dusseldorf at F390 when the flight crew declared a medical emergency and requested clearance to divert to St. John's NL and descend to F280. Gander ACC issued the clearance; however, the crew had already initiated the NAT contingency procedure and was in the descent to F280. When the aircraft was level at F280, Gander issued a clearance direct to St. John's. The aircraft landed without further incident.
