Incident at 85 miles northeast of Sydney (CYQY)

Summary

2010-04-29: DAL273, Airbus A330-300, was enroute from Paris (LFPG) to Atlanta (KATL). At 18:17Z the Moncton Shift Manager was informed of a possible passenger with explosives on the aircraft. The National Operations Centre (NOC) was advised. At 18:29Z, the pilot declared an emergency due to the possible security risk and requested clearance to divert to Boston (KBOS). The aircraft was rerouted and given the initial descent clearance. At 18:33Z, the aircraft was further rerouted to Bangor (KBGR) upon the request of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). DAL273 exited Moncton Airspace at 19:13Z. TSB Case Closed.
2010-06-10: UPDATE A10A0043: N812NW, a Delta Airlines Airbus 330-300, was en route from Paris to Atlanta when, at 1517 ADT, NORAD advised Moncton ACC that a passenger on the flight may be in possession of explosives. At 1529 ADT, the flight crew declared an emergency due to a possible security risk and requested a diversion to Boston. The aircraft was cleared as requested and given an initial descent clearance. At 1533 ADT, the US FAA requested that the aircraft be cleared to Bangor and the clearance was issued to the crew with a further descent clearance to 10 000 ft. The aircraft exited Moncton Airspace at 1613 ADT.
