Incident at GREATER MONCTON ROMEO LEBLANC INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Summary

2010-04-26: At 22:07Z, C-GZLX, Cessna 172N, was observed in the Moncton control zone five nautical miles south of the airport without making initial contact with the tower. The aircraft was on a converging heading with a Beech 1900 that had departed from Runway 24. The tower attempted to contact the aircraft on frequency 120.8 with no success. The tower eventually contacted the aircraft with the NICAN radio on frequency 123.35. The pilot stated that he was unsure of his position. The controller advised the pilot of his position and passed traffic to the aircraft. The pilot reported the Beech 1900 was in sight and passed behind the aircraft and landed without further incident.
