Accident at DEER LAKE NL (CYDF)

Summary

2010-04-26: A Canadian registered Zenair CH701 departed Runway 07 in Deer Lake (CYDF). When on approach to Runway 07 for landing, the aircraft experienced a hard landing that resulted in the collapse of the nose gear. Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting was notified and responded to the aircraft. There were no injuries. TSB Case Closed.
2010-06-10: UPDATE TSB: A10A0042: A privately-owned Zenair CH70 with the pilot as the sole occupant, had departed Deer Lake, NL for a local flight and returned to Deer Lake and landed on rwy 07. The aircraft touched down on the nose landing gear with sufficient force to collapse the nose gear rearward. The aircraft came to rest with the nose gear against the underside of the aircraft and visible damage to the carbon-fiber propeller. The pilot exited the aircraft without injuries and ARFF responded. The aircraft was removed from the runway and normal airport operations resumed.
