Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ)
2010-04-21: UPDATE TSB: A10A0031: JZA880, an Air Canada De Havilland DHC-8, had departed Halifax when the flight crew noticed a strong odor in the cockpit followed by a more noticeable electrical odor. The crew requested and received a clearance to return to Halifax and requested that ARFF be on standby. The aircraft landed safely without further incident. A verification flight was carried out; however, the problem could not be repeated. The aircraft has since been returned to service.
2010-03-23: After departure JZA880, DHC 8 102, enroute from Halifax (CYHZ) to Fredericton (CYFC), requested clearance to return to Halifax and requested that Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) standby. No reason was given. After landing ARFF crews followed the aircraft down the runway. The aircraft returned to the gate and ARFF stood down at 15:15Z. There was no operational impact. TSB Case Closed.
