Incident at J.A. DOUGLAS MCCURDY SYDNEY AIRPORT

Summary

2010-03-22: The crew of JZA816, DHC 8 102, enroute from Halifax (CYHZ) to Sydney (CYQY), reported a green laser aimed at the cockpit off the pilots left side while on a 6.8 nautical mile final. The laser appeared to come from the edge of town, was flashed four or five times and seemed intentional. Local police and the Moncton Area Control Centre (ACC) were informed. The aircraft landed safely at 02:31Z. TSB Case Closed.
2010-04-21: UPDATE A10A0030: JZA816, an Air Canada Jazz De Havilland DHC-8 en route from Halifax to Sydney, was on final approach at Sydney. At approximately 6.8 nm final, the flight crew noticed a green-colored laser being directed at the cockpit off of the left side. The laser light was flashed four or five times and appeared to come from the edge of town. Moncton ACC and the local police were informed. There were no reported injuries and the flight landed safely without further incident.
