Incident at Oceanic Airspace

Summary

2010-02-02: RCH219, KC35R eastbound enroute Wichita (KIIAB) to Mildenhall (EGUN), aircraft was routing 49N050W at 0417 41,000 feet 51N040W @0506 53N030W @ 0556 54N020W DOGAL. At 0503Z, aircraft reported Navigation issues and maintaining a heading of 100. At 0506Z, aircraft declared emergency due to Navigational Equipment failure. At 0514Z, after confirming flight was no longer MNPS or RVSM certified, Gander Oceanic cleared flight 43,000 feet (above RVSM/MNPS). Aircraft continued eastbound in HF contact with Gander and relaying actual positions every 10 minutes using GPS. No traffic at 41,000 feet or at 43,000 feet. Aircraft reported east of 30W and into Shanwick OACC at 0555Z. Nil TSB
