Incident at 6146 north 5328 west (approx)


2010-01-11: ARGUS32, Beech 200, enroute from Kangerlussuaq (BGSF) to Goose Bay (CYYR), at 15:17Z at an approximate position of 6146 north 5328 west, declared an emergency due to smoke in the cockpit. The flight was at 26,000 ft. and descended to 19,000 ft. and further to 11,000 ft. The pilot requested clearance to Nuuk (BGGH) airport and advised turning off all electrical equipment except batteries and High Frequency (HF) radio. All airport information was relayed from Sondrestrom Flight Information Centre (FIC) to Gander Oceanic and communicated to the aircraft by Gander IFSS on HF. BGGH weather conditions were VFR. At 15:41Z the aircraft was able to contact Sondrestrom FIC on VHF 121.3. The flight landed safely at 15:50Z. Nil TSB.
