Incident at PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE / SOUTHPORT MB (CYPG)

Summary

2005-06-03: N308MH, a Bell 407, was on a VFR flight from Winnipeg to Brandon when it passed through the Southport control zone without authorization. The helo was observed on radar 15 NM east of the airport at 1,800 feet and Tower was unable to contact the pilot. The a/c passed over the departure end of Runway 13R while a Beech King Air was doing a touch and go on the runway. Traffic was passed to the crew of the King Air and they were restricted to 1,400 feet until past the Bell. The Tower Controller was finally able to establish contact with the Bell on 122.8 and then 126.2. The helo was radar-identified until clear of the zone to the west.
