Incident at EDMONTON INTL AB (CYEG)
2005-06-02: CNK 365, a Beech King Air 300, was in the vicinity of the Edmonton VOR at cruise altitude en route from Calgary to Pelican, AB when the crew conducted an emergency descent. The soure of the problem appeared to be from a side window in the cockpit. After the descent, the crew elected to return to Calgary. TSB will contact the operator.
2005-06-07: UPDATE Maintenance and Manufacturing reported that the Sunwest Home Beech B300 C-FPCP experienced a shattered R/H windscreen during flight from Calgary to Pelican. The flight crew requested decent to 10,000 feet and returned to Calgary. Company maintenance personnel replaced the R/H windscreen, which had shattered the inner pane. P/N 101-384025-22 Change D. Part total time 2387.5 Hours 2355 Cycles. The aircraft has been returned to service and the company will submit an SDR.
2005-06-06: UPDATE TSB reported that the Sunwest Home Aviation, Beech 350 (C-FPCP) operating as CNK 365 was at FL 260 20 NM northeast of the Edmonton International Airport when the right side inner windshield shattered. There was no loss of pressurization. The outside air temperature was -26°C and the windshield heat had been on since takeoff. The crew initiated the shattered window checklist and moments later heard a loud crack. An emergency descent was requested when a second cracking sound was heard. CNK 365 vacated FL 260 and diverted to Calgary International Airport.
