Incident at THE PAS MB (CYQD)

Summary

2005-05-30: N231WE, a Beech Baron, was en route IFR from Winnipeg to Lynn Lake at 14,000 feet and proceeding northwest on A13 when the pilot encountered icing. The pilot was unable to contact ATC and initiated a climb from 14,000 feet to 16,000 feet to get out of the ice. The pilot broadcast his intentions. This information was picked up by another flight and relayed to the Winnipeg North Low Sector Controller. Moments later, the Low Sector Controller established radio contact with N231WE and subsequently cleared the flight to maintain 16,000 feet. No other aircraft were affected.
