Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC) (Aerodrome, runway or taxiway shutdown)
2005-06-02: UPDATE Maintenance and Manufacturing reported that upon aircraft arrival at YYC, the aircraft experienced no left brake pressure due to loss of fluid. The company PRM, in consultation with its contracted AMO had identified a left wheel fairing damage as well as a left wheel brake caliper bleeder nipple sheared off from contact with the runway. A conclusion was made that the aircraft had a hard landing during a touch and go at the preceding airport (Biesker, AB) and that this is where and how the damage was sustained. The aircraft was removed from service and a hard landing inspection was carried out in accordance with the Maintenance Manual instructions. There was no structural damage found. The company will be replacing the left brake caliper assembly.
2005-05-30: C-FNAC, a Diamond DA-40, was landing on Runway 28 at Calgary when the aircraft's brakes failed. The aircraft was disabled on the runway while waiting for a tow. Runway 28 was unavailable for about 50 minutes until 0138Z.
